Dear OBS Member or Former Member

Oklahoma Blues Society 2018 Mission

January 2018 signals a shift in focus for The Oklahoma Blues Society as we continue our efforts in Oklahoma: Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation will be our umbrella organization with which we will continue our efforts to impact the community both musically and educationally.

The first noticeable change will be our Second Sunday Jam format. We have over the years grown this event to be one of the premier monthly blues jams and shows in the City. The last two years we have featured Steve Coleman and the Powerhouz Blues Project as our host band and added a monthly special guest to join them for a set. We also tried to accommodate the member and non-members in a jam setting. Effective January 14th this format will undergo a major change.

We are in the process of assembling the finest musicians heavily influenced by the blues and putting together a band capable of doing the founding fathers of the electric blues a fitting tribute show and revue. The Cadillac Blues Assembly will play modern arrangements of the classic artists from Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Albert King, Freddie King, BB King, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, Bobby Blue Bland and of course not to overlook the powerful ladies of the blues, Etta James, and Koko Taylor, and Big Momma Thorton.

Every 2nd Sunday will now be Blue Sunday at Friends where the ensemble of Steve Coleman, Cara Black, Mark Galloway, Scott Keeton, Lee Norman, Greg Zink, and Todd Catania will be joined by a few special guests and even The Cadillac Blues Assembly of horns and backing vocals. This group of players will be the nucleus and this band will represent The Oklahoma Blues Societies efforts in Keeping the Blues Alive in Oklahoma and beyond. Available for bookings at festivals, casinos, and clubs across the state.
